Job Description
This position will have hours varied day and evening hours based on institutional needs.
Maintain offender records as outlined in Iowa Correctional Institution for Women/Department of Corrections (ICIW/DOC) policy.
This includes documenting offenders progress, strengths, and collateral contacts.
Completing custody classification, assessments/updated assessments, sexual violence propensity assessments, and conducting/maintaining reentry case plans. In addition, obtaining court reports, complete release process, and entering and retrieving computerized data (ICON) and (I-SMART).
Attend all classification meetings and prepare offenders for eventual release.
Responsibilities include: meeting with offender families, working with volunteers, tracking discharges dates, annuals and processing releases with a multi-disciplinary team.
All Counselors are required to receive reentry Case Management and Gender Responsive training.
Counselors shall perform all case management duties and offender interactions in a gender responsive manner.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to four years of full-time work providing individual and group guidance and related counseling services in the areas of social, behavioral, educational, vocational and related program planning;

Additional Qualification Requirements
Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
