The Vice President Government Relations works under broad managerial direction to plan, direct and manage legislative services and functions for the Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) and represents the government and political interests of the banking industry by performing the following duties.
- Lobbies elected officials for the association and affiliated companies; analyzes bills and amendments; Coordinates association’s legislative agenda, builds coalitions with organizations that have common interests, devises strategy to pass legislative agenda.
- Develops and coordinates BUILD and ILEAD Fundraising and coordinates and strategizes fund disbursement.
- Staff Liaison to the Advocacy and Policy Committee.
- Communicates legislative information to membership through speaking engagements, bulletins, directories and other publications.
- Represents the Association professionally at fundraising events, interim study committees and various boards, and responds to member needs and requests.
- Serves as member of the Operating Team, participates in development of the Association's strategic plan and annual budget, develops departmental goals and action plans to interface with objectives and budget parameters.
- Manages the staff of the Government Relations Department.
- Responds to member calls and written correspondence on legislative and regulatory issues including press and vendor relations.
- Provides executive level support to staff liaison for Managed Associations including IMA and ITA.
