About Job

Ethan Crossing of Cleveland, a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Center and a member of New Vista Health and Wellness, is currently seeking certified Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistants (CDCA) for Part Time, Weekends Only positions.

Certification Required: CDCA

THE ROLE:

The CDCA works in the capacity of a counselor serving the SUD population and, in conjunction with mental health therapist when appropriate, as group facilitator, assessor and/or case manager. The CDCA position works to identify and address the needs and concerns of clients and families of clients who are dependent upon alcohol/drugs; provides assessment, crisis intervention and other services to assist client/family in the treatment process. CDCA staff members may work as BHT/MHT staff and as part of the clinical team as directed by their manager/supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma, minimum CDCA certification. Must have completed 40 hours of education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methods.
  • Experience: Must have knowledge and experience working with substance use population. Be capable of working within scope of practice and practice under supervision. At least 2 (two) years’ experience preferred.
  • License: Current unencumbered CDCA certificate in the State or equivalent or higher.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Handle with Care (HWC) within 30 days.
  • Must be fully trained as a BHT/MHT to assist as needed and where assigned by manager/director/supervisor
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must possess group work skills
  • Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships
  • May be required to work flexible hours and overtime

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments that are within scope of practice with supervision
  • Provide group counseling
  • Identify issues and create goals and treatment plan
  • Teach coping mechanisms
  • Lead group/Individual sessions as necessary
  • Prepare written reports, regular case dictation, and summaries for consultation according to program standards and professional ethics
  • Attend treatment teams when necessary
  • Maintain timely documentation that meets facility and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives
  • Facilitate safe discharge plans and coordinate care with referral sources and community partners.
  • May be required to perform other duties responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
