Looking to grow as a leader? YMCA Camp MacLean is now hiring Overnight Camp Junior Counselors for summer 2025!

YMCA Camp MacLean has been proudly providing camp programming for children, teens, and adults since 1941. Our programs have grown from a summer camp for boys to a year-round camping center serving youth, families, and many different organizations.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Overnight Camp Junior Counselor is responsible for assisting the counselor with the well-being of 10-14 youth 24 hours a day for the duration of the camp session.

Pay range starts at $520 bi-weekly, housing & meals provided

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Summer Overnight Camp Counselor with ALL campers.
  • Ensure safety for ALL campers at ALL times including:
    • Physical and emotional health
    • Never leaving a camper unsupervised.
    • Being aware of unsafe activities.
  • Teach skill periods based on interest and abilities.
  • Provide customer service to parents/guardians.
  • Lead cabin devotions or huddle ups each night before bed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the cabin.
  • Responsible for camper discipline and reporting behavior issues to the assistant program director.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 16 years old.
  • Strong interest and maturity in working with children in an outdoor setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in camp-related activities preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (within the past year).
