The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications to fill two open-rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) tenure-track positions in its APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. The program has maintained a strong emphasis on forensic psychology/training since its inception, which has recently expanded to include a general emphasis option for students with broader interests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expertise in clinical psychology.
- Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited clinical, counseling, or school psychology program.
- Eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas (ABD applicants will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by the start date of the position).
The department seeks candidates with scholarly and/or clinical expertise in clinical psychology. The specific area of research is open. Particular curricular and research needs include empirically supported treatments for children, adolescents, and adults; child and adolescent assessment; forensic psychology; multicultural psychology; experimental design; biological bases of behavior; and clinical supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting and supervising research.
- Supervising theses and dissertations.
- Supervising clinical practica.
- Teaching in the graduate (master’s and doctoral) and undergraduate programs in the department.
These positions within the doctoral program are associated with a 2-2 workload. Candidates with demonstrated potential for extramural funding are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be committed to a student-centered approach and have a passion for teaching and mentoring all students at SHSU.
