Founded in 1887, Alverno College is a four-year, Catholic liberal arts college for undergraduate

The College is seeking applicants for an adjunct instructor in undergraduate social work
located in Milwaukee, WI.
Primary Function: To teach classes in the undergraduate social work program on a contractual
basis as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following information is not meant to be all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may
be assigned as necessary.
All social work adjunct instructors at Alverno College collaborate in curriculum development,
teaching, learning and assessment, and program evaluation within psychology and social work
programs and the curriculum at large. Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Teach courses in undergraduate social work program.
- Assess student and program learning outcomes.
- Develop and revise curriculum.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Engage in scholarship activities related to program outcomes.
- Actively participate in professional organizations.
Qualifications
Undergraduate adjunct instructors
1. Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution with at least 2-years of
post-MSW practice experience.
2. Significant professional experience in the field.
3. Strong communication skills with faculty, staff, students, and potential students.
4. Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and an understanding of student
development, including the ability to balance student needs and take on an institutional
perspective.
5. Strong commitment to quality teaching in the liberal arts and to the social justice
mission of the college.
6. Experience teaching diverse learners using inclusive practices preferred.
7. Requires the ability to implement learning management software and institutional
systems to carry out the administrative functions of the course including use of
Brightspace LMS and student information systems for recording course progress.
8. Requires the ability to work in a team setting and work effectively with a variety of
audiences and departments.
9. Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
10. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
11. Must hold current unrestricted licensure as an LCSW, and/or SAC/CSAC.
12. Preferred experience teaching diverse learners using inclusive practices.
