Job Description:
The Resident Care Coordinator plays an integral leadership role in assisting the Administrator with smooth operations. The RCC and Administrator work as a team to manage resident care, oversee medication management, and respond with professional correspondence and documentation to medical providers, outside agencies, family members, POAs, and state agencies. Additionally, the RCC assists with the training, onboarding, and career development of team members; manages staffing and related schedules; and works with HR to hire, coach, and promote talent. RCCs must have strong interpersonal and team-building skills and effective communication. The person in this role must be an organized and detailed self-starter with excellent leadership and coaching skills. Pay Range: $21 to $25 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
Shift: 5 days a week with at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)
Location: Tigard, Oregon 97223
Job Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Train new Personal Assistants (PA) and Med Techs (MT) on caregiving, med administration and passing, campus software and computer programs, and procedures and practices.
- Set work schedules for staff, posting at least 30 days in advance (preferably 60).
- Arrange staffing to best cover the floor based on residents’ needs; rearrange as necessary and communicate changes and updates to all parties.
- Work the floor and fill in as PA or MT as needed.
- Help cover other areas as needed such as assisting in the kitchen, activities, and/or housekeeping.
- Audit medication rooms weekly to ensure order and compliance.
- Know and thoroughly understand each position (PA, Med Tech, AC, Dietary, Nurse) to enhance working relationships, functionality of the community, harmony, residents and resident care, and the overall business model.
- Lead by example with a positive attitude, appropriate workplace behavior and language, and a willingness to model and perform what you ask of others.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff.
- Work with and seek counsel from HR for proper documentation, serious violations, performance or behavioral concerns, and terminations.
- Communicate with doctors and other outside providers, pharmacies, facilities, and referral agencies to manage medication, admission and re-admits, and appointments.
Job Qualifications:
- Associates degree, continuing, or higher education in healthcare, aging/geriatrics, business administration, or related field or Medical Assistant (Certified preferred) or Certified Med Aide, CNA, or CNA-2.
- Three years experience in healthcare setting with a minimum one year as Med Tech, RCC, or care staff.
- One year of experience supervisory or lead position.
- One year of experience managing scheduling/staffing with full understanding of coverage needs.
- Knowledge of OARs for an ALF/RCF or related licensure.
- Experience and knowledge of the State survey process.
- Excellent verbal communication, good interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities.
- Ability to professionally and diplomatically communicate with outside agencies, family members, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication with ability to professionally correspond via email and/or letter using proper documentation, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to make good sound decisions in stressful situations or when put on the spot.
