About Job

P.I.E. Management is seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional ( QMHP) for the Michigan Department of Corrections in Freeland, MI. This is a contract position.

Job Description:

Employees in this job complete a variety of assignments as a (QMHP) Qualified Mental Health Professional in providing mental health services to patients under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections (DOC). Work is performed within the guidelines of MDOC mental health program, and employees provide casework and treatment services, within the scope of their practice, to patients diagnosed with a mental illness or mental disability through outpatient mental health services, residential treatment programs, and inpatient treatment programs.

Duties:

  • Serves as a QMHP and member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, working with team members in diagnosing problems, formulating treatment plans, and evaluating progress
  • Provides case management by coordinating treatment activities and ensuring the services delivered assists in meeting patient's goals and objectives
  • Evaluates patients’ behavior and makes referrals for treatment and services utilizing case histories, psychiatric reviews, QMHP assessments, custody reports, and various other evaluation and intervention reports
  • Prepares psychosocial evaluations, needs assessments, case histories, treatment and management plans and treatment and management plan reviews
  • Delivers individual and group therapy including specialized groups such as comorbid substance abuse therapy, sex offender therapy and assaultive offender therapy
  • Provides crisis intervention and emergent suicide interventions and evaluations
  • Identifies and refers patients for other services such as psychiatric, medical, educational, vocational, and recreational
  • Participates in hearings to determine patient's need of involuntary treatment
  • Interprets the results of diagnostic tests and prepares written and/or verbal reports
  • Arranges aftercare planning including relapse prevention and transition/discharge planning
  • Provides assistance and directs services to employees through Employee Wellness, Peer Support, and Traumatic Incident Stress Management (TISM) Programs
  • Participates as a program team member guiding employees, their families, and retirees in times of crisis and/or need
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Maintains records and prepares reports
  • Performs related work as assigned

Education:

  • Master’s degree with a major in psychology, social work, or counseling
  • Must have a valid Michigan license to practice as a psychologist, social worker, or counselor
