Reports to: Program Coordinator

OVERVIEW

The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing employment services support participants in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals. The role involves working closely with participants to understand their career goals, providing job search assistance, coordinating with employers, and offering support throughout the employment process. The Employment Specialist will build partnerships with community employers and organizations to provide adequate opportunities for participants. Program participants will have a substance use disorder and/or dual diagnosis (including a mental illness and substance use disorder) and are in or seeking recovery. The Employment Specialist will work alongside the participant’s Recovery Coach to provide ongoing, stable support.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Client Assessment and Planning

  • Conduct thorough assessments of participants' skills, experiences, and career aspirations.
  • Develop individualized employment plans with clear, achievable goals.
  • Provide guidance on career pathways and job market trends.

Job Readiness Training

  • Conduct workshops and one-on-one sessions on resume writing, job search techniques, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.
  • Assist participants in developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Job Placement Assistance

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with local employers to create job opportunities for participants.
  • Match participants with suitable job openings and assist them through the application process.
  • Organize job fairs, employer panels, and networking events.

Ongoing Support and Retention

  • Provide ongoing support to participants once employed to ensure job retention and career advancement.
  • Conduct follow-up meetings and offer resources to address any challenges participants may face in the workplace.
  • Maintain regular contact with employers to monitor client performance and address any issues.

Program Development and Reporting

  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and recovery coaches to develop and refine employment services and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports on program outcomes and participant progress.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

  • Represent the organization at community events and meetings to promote employment services.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that support workforce development and job opportunities for underserved populations.

Other Duties

  • Stay current with employment trends and opportunities.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.




Compensation details: 17.52-17.52 Hourly Wage
