JOB SUMMARY
LPNs working in conjunction with the Medical Surgical RN who has the responsibility to organize, manage, and supervise the practice of LPNs. The LPN collaborates with other departments to ensure excellence in patient and family care reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The LPN practices within the framework of the nursing process in the provision of professional nursing care within the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act.
Administers nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse or other medical supervisor. Provides basic medical care, including changing bandages, administering medication, and collecting specimens. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients by assisting with bathing, feeding, and dressing. Contributes and reports changes in patient's condition to supervisor. Requires a high school diploma. Requires graduation from approved LPN educational program. Requires a state license to practice. Must have IV certification at next offered training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs assessment appropriate to licensure and documents on the patient record.
- Participates in age appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
- Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.
- Assists with patient and family teaching regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
- Assists with evaluating patient response to intervention and revision of plan of care.
- Provides service excellence to all customers with utilization of AIDET.
- Provides safe patient care by attending huddle, utilizing bedside shift report, and performs hourly rounding.
- Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
- Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice and continuing education.
- Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
- Adheres to CCH policies and procedures
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure
- Wyoming LPN license
- Certifications required

- Experience
- Experience in medical/surgical nursing preferred.
