Job Title: Telehealth Clinical Social Worker
Our mission at ORTELE is to provide convenient and cost effective access to specialty medical care with measurable outcomes and high quality care with every virtual visit.
Ortele’s telemedicine platform provides a secure, HIPAA-compliant encounter between patient and clinician, facilitating management of chronic conditions through remote connected care. Virtual visits are reimbursed by 3rd party payers, much like a traditional office visit.
Position Overview:
Under general direction and established policies, the Telehealth Clinical Social Worker assesses and addresses the psychosocial needs of patients and their families through remote platforms. This includes providing psychosocial evaluations, crisis interventions, psychotherapeutic support, counseling, and psychotherapy to patients and their families via telehealth services.
In this role, you will advocate for patients, assisting with their physical, emotional, and social adjustments while facilitating individualized care plans in a multidisciplinary team approach. You will ensure continuity of care through discharge planning, collaborative care, and connections to appropriate resources.
The qualified candidate will providecounseling services to ORTELE’s patients using telemedicine, including a secure two-way video encounter. Clinical Social Workers are exposed to a wide variety of cases, with sufficient opportunity for patient education and follow-up to maintain a continuity of care.
The candidate will have experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling typically earned from three years outpatient experience and will contribute to ORTELE’ssuccessful growth and clinical operating activities. This part-time, remote position (from your current office or home), features an excellent opportunity for career/life balance. Our compensation includes a competitive rate per patient appointment and insurance coverage for care provided on Ortele cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate psychosocial needs of patients and their families through virtual consultations.
- Provide crisis intervention, psychotherapeutic support, counseling, and psychotherapy via telehealth platforms.
- Advocate for patients to assist with physical, emotional, and social adjustments.
- Develop and implement patient discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, guardians, caseworkers, and community resources.
- Conduct evaluations, ongoing monitoring, individual/group counseling, and facilitate adjustment to illness or its secondary effects.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, government, and community agencies.
- Document social work interventions and complete required telehealth forms, including discharge summaries.
- Manage crisis situations in alignment with organizational and departmental policies.
- Maintain an accurate and current directory of referral sources, using them appropriately to meet patient needs.
What We’re Looking For:
- High level of analytical abilities necessary to identify and plan for the resolutionof difficult psychosocial illness related problems.
- Manages workload effectively and efficiently
- Maintains knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and trends in social work
- Knowledge of ICD10 and DSM 5 diagnostic coding
- Interest in application of new medical technology for delivery of patient care
- Desire to work in a diverse and fast-paced startup environment
- Follows the ethical guidelines set forth by the National Association of Social Workers, and Association of Social Work Boards
- Ability to work effectively with patients presenting complex medical, emotional, and psychosocial challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build productive relationships with patients, families, service agencies, and medical staff.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills for working with diverse populations, including healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Analytical skills to assess patient circumstances and determine the need for social work intervention or referral.
- Adaptability to manage stressful situations and prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively
- Completes all required documentation to support patient care and the level of service submitted for billing
- Coordinates patient care with facility scheduler

MUST BE LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN MICHIGAN
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Michigan or limited licensure with full LMSW licensure required within three years of hire. Certification as Certified Social Worker (CSW). CAADC certification from Michigan Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP), highly desired
- Experience: 3+ years of social work experience in psychiatric evaluation, disposition, and treatment for patients with psychiatric, substance abuse, or medical impairments.
Work Environment: This role is fully remote, with virtual patient consultations and telehealth-based communication with the care team.
