Job Description

THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION

Department: Parks & Recreation

Position: Summer Program Counselor - Play Mobile

Posting Expires: Open Until Filled

Salary: $16.00/hourly



Major Responsibilities

  • Organize free and innovative activities in parks and playgrounds for children and families, including sports, arts and crafts, and special events.
  • Plan and organize daily operations of the Mobile Unit Program.
  • Provide instruction and leadership in various activities such as sports, fitness, and arts and crafts.
  • Engage the community through recreational programming and events.
  • Maintain and repair athletic equipment and play materials; demonstrate their use.
  • Inspect play areas for hazards and report unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure playground safety by removing hazards like broken glass or litter.
  • Maintain discipline and prevent disturbances in recreational areas.
  • Drive the mobile unit vehicle to various parks and green spaces.
  • Maintain the vehicle and inventory; report repairs and keep records.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of experience in arts, crafts, or recreational activities, or equivalent education/experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children.
  • Flexible schedule including nights and weekends.


Additional Information

  • Training scheduled for June 2-6, 2025.
  • Work from June 9 to July 25, 2025, 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.
  • Active involvement with campers during swim times; swim skills not required.
