Are you passionate about animal welfare and ready to be a vital part of our life-saving mission? Woods Humane Society is seeking a compassionate, highly motivated Intake Coordinator to help ensure every animal in our care begins their journey with the best possible start. You'll play a critical role in assessing and welcoming animals into our shelter, coordinating with rescue partners, and making thoughtful decisions that support the health, behavior, and placement of every animal.

What You’ll Do:

Be the first point of care for incoming animals—conduct intake exams, evaluate behavior, and ensure every animal is on the path to a positive outcome
Coordinate transports, owner surrenders, and rescue transfers
Partner with the medical, behavior, and adoption teams to determine the best care and placement options
Provide compassionate, knowledgeable support to the public and community partners
Assist with basic medical care and participate in euthanasia procedures as needed (training provided)
Write engaging animal bios to help pets find loving homes

What We're Looking For

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of direct animal care experience
Valid California driver’s license and insurance
Willingness to earn Certified Euthanasia Technician and Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit within 6 months (we cover it!)

Preferred:

Prior experience in an animal shelter environment

This is a non-exempt Full-time position with an expected salary range of $20.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on experience. This role includes required travel requiring a current CA Driver’s license, CA required auto insurance and a clean driving record.

Work is conducted within an animal shelter environment. This may involve exposure to environmental factors, including temperature fluctuations, elevated noise levels, zoonotic diseases, animal waste, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials requiring OSHA Safety Data Sheets, anesthetics, sharp objects, as well as the possibility of interacting with hostile individuals and handling dangerous or aggressive animals.
