Position: FULL TIME Peer Support Specialist (Overnight)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empower Clients: Help individuals access and maintain SUD treatment, recognizing the validity of multiple pathways to self-defined recovery.
  • Resource Exploration: Utilize all available resources, including healthy nutrition, to support clients in their recovery journey.
  • Personalized Support: Meet with clients regularly to offer one-on-one support and counseling tailored to their needs.
  • Recovery Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized recovery plans, coping methods, and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Coordination: Arrange medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other essential resources to aid clients.
  • Monitoring: Keep track of clients' behavior, schedules, medication, and activities to ensure they stay on track.
  • Reporting: Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or deviations in recovery to relevant professionals and assist with data-tracking requirements.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate logistics for clients, including medical appointments and therapy sessions.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Conduct assessments and provide valuable feedback to clients, medical professionals, and families.
  • Documentation: Generate recovery reviews and performance documents to track the rehabilitation process and support program enrollees in achieving care plan goals.
  • Data Management: Use eHR for efficient data entry and management.

Perinatal Elements:

  • Provide specialized support to pregnant and postpartum clients, addressing unique challenges related to perinatal mental health and substance use.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for both mother and baby.
  • Facilitate access to prenatal and postnatal care, parenting classes, and support groups.

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) recovery.
  • Strong understanding of perinatal mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Identification: Provide a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, ID card, or passport).
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required (transcripts needed).
  • Lived Experience: Self-identify as a Peer with personal recovery experience.
  • Willingness to Share: Be open to sharing your recovery journey.
  • Dedication: Strong commitment to recovery.
  • Ethics: Agree in writing to follow the California Department of Health Care Services Code of Ethics for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists.
  • Training: Complete an 80-hour training on California’s 17-core competencies for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists from a CalMHSA-approved program.
  • Certification: Pass the state-approved Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification exam.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual required (Spanish preferred).

Pay & Benefits: At Janus, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $23.00 and $25.00 per hour and your base pay will be considered on your job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education.

As part of our team, you'll frequently move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, ensuring everything is in the right place for our various needs. You'll also have the opportunity to stay active by occasionally moving around the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and more.
