Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and timely submission of claims to insurance companies. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing systems, coding practices, and the ability to navigate complex medical records. MANDATORY EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHIATRY IS REQUIRED. Our group also provides primary care services, and familiarity with billing in both specialties is a plus. THIS POSITION ALLOWS THE BILLER TO WORK FROM HOME WITH NO REQUIREMENT TO COME INTO THE OFFICE. CANDIDATES MUST KNOW AND BE PROFICIENT IN BILLING AND PRIOR AUTHORIZATION FOR NEVADA MEDICAID AND MEDICARE. The Medical Biller will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process.
• Resolve billing discrepancies by collaborating with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives.
• Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and communications.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and payer requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to billing activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred. Strong knowledge of medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and medical office procedures.
• Familiarity with medical records management and medical collection processes. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
• Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCA) is a plus but not required.
• Strong analytical skills to identify issues related to claims processing.
• Mandatory experience in mental health and psychiatry is required; experience in primary care is a plus.
• Must possess knowledge of prior authorization processes for Medicaid and be adept at using and accessing the Medicaid portal.
