Lake Mead Christian Ministries (LMCM) Minister- K-6 School Counselor
Job Type: Part Time/ Full Time
Department: School Counseling
Reports to: Director of Counseling
Compensation: $30,000 - $55,000/annually
Job Summary: The K-6 school counselor is responsible for creating welcoming, warm, and safe interactions with their students. They provide social, emotional, and spiritual support and coordination with students and parents.
Essential Job Functions:
- Creates a conducive learning environment based on LMCA values
- Provides counseling and guidance for personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns
- Recognizes and monitors problematic behavior in students
- Facilitates the social-emotional learning (SEL) program
- Guest speaks on occasion for the SEL program
- Executes the peer mediation program
- Consults with parents, teachers, and agencies regarding student needs
- Identifies students with special needs and make recommendations/referrals
- Maintains confidential student records
- Assists with school events and attend staff meetings/professional development
- Supports students in personal, social, and academic growth
- Serves as a resource for the school community and understand reporting requirements
- Conducts training programs and conferences with teachers on accommodations
- Stays updated on educational knowledge through courses and training sessions
- Other duties as the supervisor deems necessary
Qualifications:
- Great scheduling ability
- Great organizational skills
- Great communication and listening skills
- Ability to communicate issues to parents
- Strong understanding of human development, SEL, school, and personal counseling skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred
- Experience preferred
- Computer Skills (word processing skills, Google suite, electronic presentation skills, internet navigation skills, email management, etc.)
- Working towards an ACSI School Counselor Certificate
- Have a clear understanding of diversity, empathy, good communication, and knowing when to act
