Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. This role involves providing individual and group counseling services to adults struggling with substance use disorders. You will work in a relaxed, non-corporate environment where your input is valued, your time is respected, and micromanagement is not part of our culture. No billable hours.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual and group substance use counseling sessions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Conduct Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessments (CDAs)
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
• Collaborate with a supportive team of counselors and leadership
• Provide crisis support and case management as needed
• Attend staff meetings and training opportunities

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Substance Abuse Disorder Associate (SUDA) credentials required
• SUDA: Associate’s degree and current Idaho SUDA credential
• CADC: Bachelor’s degree and current Idaho CADC certification
• LPC or higher: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field and current Idaho licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.)
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must have all licenses and certifications available at time of hire
• Experience in substance use counseling preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Passion for helping others and being part of a positive, client-centered team
• Proficient in behavioral therapy and addiction counseling
• Strong skills in patient assessment, medical documentation, and HIPAA compliance
• Experience with crisis intervention and group therapy
• Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques
• Familiarity with medical terminology and records management
