AHRC NYC is currently seeking Per-Diem Residential Habilitation Counselors (RHC) to work one on one with people in their private homes and communities in all five boroughs. The RHC provides one to one services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of Activities of daily living(ADL) Skills Training Development, Socialization, Recreation and Leisure Activities, and Utilization of Community Resources.
The RHC position is a part-time/per-diem position with a pay rate of $18 per hour.

Job Description
AHRC NYC is currently seeking Per-Diem Residential Habilitation Counselors (RHC) to work one on one with people in their private homes and communities in all five boroughs. The RHC provides one to one services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of Activities of daily living(ADL) Skills Training Development, Socialization, Recreation and Leisure Activities, and Utilization of Community Resources.
The RHC position is a part-time/per-diem position with a pay rate of $18 per hour.
- Shifts are primarily in the afternoons, evenings or weekend mornings or afternoons
- Shifts are usually 4-6 hours long. Typical Monday-Friday shifts are 2pm-7pm, 3:30pm-8:30pm or 4pm-8pm etc. Monday to Friday
- Weekend shifts are typically 9am-2:00pm, 10am-3pm, 2pm-6pm etc.
- We are seeking patient, understanding, and team oriented people to support people with I/DD in community participation, advocacy and building meaningful relationships.
- Must be willing to teach, provide counseling, be capable of problem solving, and willing to assist or complete Activities of Daily Living (i.e. preparing meals, cleaning, attending to hygiene needs).
- Must provide the oversight of all safety and health considerations for the person supported while promoting skill development and exploring the person's interest and hobbies.
- Must be willing to work with a person supported on a one to one basis, or work with people supported in a group setting across a variety of environments.
- Experience with the I/DD population is Preferred but not required. AHRC NYC provides additional trainings for those starting or changing career paths.
- Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills; patience; sensitivity and commitment to working with the I/DD population.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, or completion of certification in the following areas: HHA, CNA, PCA.
- Willingness to support people's preference for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights, etc. in various settings.
