Job DescriptionPosition Title: Psychiatric Technician
Qualification Requirements:
All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Experience:
- At least twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those listed in this description.
- Internships do not count toward the required experience.
- Licensure:
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technicians to provide services in the State of California.
- Language Proficiency:
- Must be proficient in the English language and able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Individuals who do not meet this requirement will not be permitted to perform services.
Service Delivery Requirements:
Under the direction of the facility’s designated supervisor or administrative staff, the Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technician will provide services within the scope of practice defined by California law and institutional policies. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide basic behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled individuals.
- Conduct clinical rounds and monitor individuals for signs and symptoms of mental illness.
- Perform psychiatric nursing procedures (under supervision), such as:
- Administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections.
- Take and chart vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration).
- Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop treatment plans and objectives.
- Assist with group and individual therapy programs, and serve as a group therapy facilitator.
- Coordinate with other facility staff in managing care for mentally or developmentally disabled individuals.
- Observe and report changes in individuals’ physical and behavioral conditions.
- Schedule and coordinate clinical appointments; ensure individuals attend their appointments.
- Perform first responder duties, including CPR and basic first aid as needed.
- Accurately follow all documentation and reporting protocols.
- Help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $48.00 - $52.00 per hour
