EMC Behavioral Health is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner LCSW to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychopharmacological treatment for diverse mental health and substance use disorders
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, including detailed psychiatric history, current symptoms, medical conditions, substance use history, psychosocial factors, mental status examination, risk assessment (including suicidal and homicidal ideation), and DSM/ICD diagnosis
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications for a variety of mental health conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
Continuously monitor patients' response to medication, assess for side effects and adverse reactions, and make necessary adjustments to medication regimens based on therapeutic response, tolerability, and patient progress.
Provide comprehensive psychoeducation to patients and their family members or support systems regarding prescribed medications, including their purpose, expected effects, potential side effects and adverse reactions, the importance of medication adherence, potential drug interactions, and any necessary precautions
Coordinate and collaborate effectively with clinic therapists, counselors, case managers, and other healthcare providers involved in the patient's care. Maintain open communication regarding patient status, treatment response, medication impacts, and any concerns. Participate in integrated treatment planning meetings as needed
Provide crisis intervention and conduct thorough risk assessments for patients experiencing acute psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal or homicidal ideation. Facilitate appropriate interventions, including hospitalization when clinically indicated
Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Document all patient visits, assessments, treatment plans, prescriptions, laboratory orders, communication with consultants, and patient referrals in a timely and thorough manner
Accurately and efficiently enter all required client information, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication orders, within the company's designated Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and database
Stay current on evidence-based best practices for the psychopharmacological management of mental health conditions through ongoing continuing education, literature review, and participation in professional development activities
Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
Adhere to all organizational expectations, responsibilities, policies, and procedures as outlined for all staff members
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field or Doctorate degree from an accredited medical school
Licensure and Certification: Current and unrestricted licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a Psychiatric Mental Health specialty in the state of Texas. Current board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Current and unrestricted DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of post-graduate experience providing outpatient psychiatric medication management
Preferred Qualifications:
Evening availability
Occasional weekend availability
Compensation:
$70 per billable hour, Independent Contractor (1099)
