Lower School Counselor
The Out-of-Door Academy seeks to hire a Lower School Counselor to join our Lower School campuses located on Siesta Key and Clark Road where we are committed to provide a student-centered, relevant learning experience that supports the growth and well-being of every child.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Lower School-Siesta Key, the Lower School Counselor will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for overseeing programs that focus on helping students apply academic achievement strategies, manage social & emotional development, and plan for transition & life-beyond skills for all students, delivering both direct and indirect services.
- Demonstrate a professional foundation of ethical and legal practices and engage in ongoing professional learning using appropriate standards and competencies.
- Possess the knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitude necessary to engage in continuous improvement and reflection using data to identify, plan, and implement programs that align with The American School Counselor Association's standards.
- Live the school's mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Qualifications
The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and /or preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master's Degree in School Counseling preferred,
- Experience in the field of independent education is preferred.
- Experience using instructional technology, including hardware, software, and web-based applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills; a self-directed individual who is solution-oriented, flexible, and works well with teams and individuals while possessing a positive attitude.
- Ability to multi-task/exceptional attention to detail.
- Must possess strong writing, verbal, and organizational skills; must have knowledge of and be comfortable working with technology.
Compensation and Benefits
This is an 11-month full-time exempt position available in August 2025. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
