Job Description
Under direction, with broad latitude for independent or unreviewed action or decision, performs difficult and responsible professional work and/or supervisory work of ordinary professional difficulty and responsibility in the field of psychology, and related work. Typical tasks include but are not limited to: Plans, organizes and supervises psychological service programs and/or units and participates in the development of program objectives; advises on kinds of services to be rendered, areas to be emphasized, and utilization of psychological services to help meet overall program objectives; consults with administrative and/or medical staffs regarding general policies which affect psychological services; supervises the work of psychologists and psychology staff and acts as a consultant to them on problems they encounter; allocates time and number of staff to various psychological activities; initiates programs and writes grant proposals to receive independent funding for the programs; conducts in-service training programs by organizing and staffing conferences and seminars, drawing up curricula, and evaluating efficiency of programs; may perform relevant clinical professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; or
2. Within six (6) months of appointment to this Level, must obtain valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED and provide proof that all of the following documentation has been submitted to the NYSED:
a. Proof of passing licensing examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB).
b. Application for Licensure (Form 1).
c. Certification of Professional Education (Form 2).
d. Reports of Professional Experience/Certifications of Supervised Experience (Form 4). Note: Post-doctoral experience in NYS must have been obtained under a NYS Limited Permit.
e. If already licensed in another State, Certification of Out-of-State Licensure and Exam Grades (Form 3) and Certification of Licensed Experience (Form 4F) should be substituted for Form 4 above.
