Evening Clinical Counselor Position

Provides clinical services to youth and/or adults in any/all of the agency’s programs; networks with individuals, agencies, and businesses to promote and provide appropriate services and increase referrals; participates as member of treatment team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts orientations, intakes, and assessments for individuals referred for services and programs, including but not limited to intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment, ADSAP, and youth/adolescent services

2. Provides clinical services to clients, including case management, crisis intervention/management, individual/family/group counseling, treatment planning, and education

3. Finds ways to involve family members in clients’ treatment to improve outcomes

4. Follows up with and attempts to re-engage clients who have not been attending as recommended

5. Assists with client drug screening

6. Networks with various individuals, agencies, and businesses to initiate/maintain referrals to the agency; refers clients to self-help groups

7. Provides ongoing supervision of the client’s individualized plan of care -documenting activity and progress in the client record

8. Maintains client records in accordance with standards/regulations established by licensing, governing, and accreditation bodies -including DAODAS, DHEC, CARF, and DHHS

9. Prepares, maintains, and/or processes various reports and documents as required

10. Assists with the development and implementation of treatment programs

11. Attends and participates in all staff meetings, case consultations, and interagency staffing

12. Participates in clinical supervision

13. Attends and participates in training to maintain/improve skills and increase understanding of substance use disorders

Complies with all state and federal laws governing patient privacy and confidentiality

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities

Considerable knowledge of assessment methods and techniques; working knowledge of referral resources and processes; working knowledge of principles of human development; considerable knowledge of substance use disorders, social work, mental health, marriage and family counseling techniques.

Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records and data; ability to maintain confidences; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, co-workers, supervisors, other agencies, and the public; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related clinical field and two years’ work experience in a professional counseling agency or setting or any combination of education, skills, and experience that result in meeting the necessary qualifications for the position

Professional licensure preferred

Must obtain professional certification as Addictions Counselor within three (3) years of employment and maintain certification thereafter
