The Social Services Intern will receive education and training in the real-world setting of healthcare. The education and training will be directed towards preparation of the intern for an eventual career in their chosen field of study. The intern will be responsible to plan, organize and implement social work services to patients and families; assuring that the medically related emotional and social needs are addressed on an individual basis. The intern will also be responsible to assess discharge needs and facilitate with patient/family, plan for discharge, and maintain a current knowledge base of community agencies and resources to facilitate appropriate referrals.

Education and/or Experience

• Attending an accredited college or university required.
• Attaining final internship for BSW/MSW level licensure preferred.
• College credit obtained during the internship experience preferred
• Healthcare experience preferred

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Application and successful completion of the South Dakota state social work licensure exam is required within three months of placement in the role or graduation, whichever one is further out. This is a temporary three month position that will bridge from graduation until applicant can sit for licensure test.
