GENERAL SUMMARY

The Admissions Counselor and Advisor – LPN to BSN Program is responsible for recruiting prospective students and applicants interested in the LPN to BSN program. The employee’s function is to accurately, positively, thoroughly, and professionally market and present the University's programs, representing the University's Christian mission. This position reports to the Director of the School of Nursing, the Director of Admissions, and the VP for Enrollment as a secondary report.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruiting
  • Market and promote the University LPN to BSN nursing program.
  • Develop and implement recruiting and marketing strategies in coordination with the Director of the School of Nursing, the Director of Admissions, and the USF Marketing Department.
  • Reflect and promote the Christian mission, vision, and identity of the University.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective students and their families throughout the recruitment process.
  • Understand and share information about the university, programs, course offerings, graduation, history, and placement rates of the nursing programs, in addition to familiarity with the features and benefits of USF compared to competitor schools.
  • Schedule and attend recruitment activities, including organized fairs and events, and make presentations at admissions events, community colleges, churches, organizations, businesses, and other areas to promote and market the University.
  • Maintain scheduled contact via telephone, text messaging, email, and social media with prospect and admitted students.
Academic Advising and Retention
  • Foster relationships with students to support engagement and belonging, and serve as the main point of contact throughout the student’s academic journey.
  • Counsel student applicants through the nursing admission process, working within the acceptable parameters of USF policies and nursing accreditation regulations.
  • Provide academic advising to applicants to meet prerequisite requirements and grow pool of candidates for nursing programs.
  • Develop personalized degree plans for prospective and enrolled students by planning courses and tracking degree progress.
  • Support students in identifying academic challenges and connecting them with appropriate campus resources.
  • Use student information systems (SIS), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, and learning management systems (LMS) to track student performance, progression, and engagement.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy for reporting to nursing boards or other regulatory agencies, especially around licensure eligibility and progression benchmarks.
Data-Analytics
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors to establish enrollment goals, manage yield, and implement effective strategies.
  • Develop, review, and utilize nursing-specific data/analytics for promotion of and recruiting for USF undergraduate nursing programs.
  • Maintain student database and records as needed to identify, recruit, market, and follow up with prospective students.
  • Maintain accurate data on enrolled student advising interactions, persistence, retention, and completion.
General
  • Coordinate on-campus and off-site visit programs for prospects and applicants.
  • Partner with USF Departments, including but not limited to the Registrar's Office, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Development, and the Academic Success Office as needed for the benefit of prospective and accepted students.
  • Comply with all USF policies and regulations, and also with outside agencies' policies and regulations, including but not limited to Title IX, NCAA, NSIC, South Dakota Board of Nursing, Department of Education, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Clery Act, FERPA, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Justice.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Publisher); Microsoft Outlook; Learning Management portals.
  • Complete all above duties in a timely manner or as dictated by the project deadlines.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with emphasis in nursing or business preferred
  • Experience in nursing, medical administration, business, or higher education is required
  • Demonstrated customer service understanding and experience in the higher education industry
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient with spreadsheets; database understanding and use
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully work with confidential data
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database packages
  • Ability to articulate Christian commitment; demonstrated commitment to higher education in a Christian University, and a strong desire to assist students in understanding the mission and programs of the University
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background check and lift and carry weights of 20 pounds
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, as needed, for the recruiting and promotion of the USF Nursing recruitment process.
