Location: Valhalla, NY

Schedule: Monday-Friday, full-time hybrid role with travel required (minimum 2 full days in office)

Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) is seeking a compassionate and skilled case manager with supervisory experience to provide in-home and community-based support services for families involved with child welfare, including home visits, safety assessments, family functioning assessments, parenting support, referrals, community linkages, and advocacy.

About Us

Child Welfare Services at WIHD provides an array of services, supports and advocacy for children and families involved with the child welfare system in Westchester County. These services include clinical assessments of children and their birth parents, pediatric medical care, educational coordination and advocacy, and community-based parent training services for parents with intellectual disabilities and services for families reunifying from foster care or at risk for foster care placement.

Summary of Case Manager Supervisor

The Case Manager Supervisor will assist in overseeing the delivery of home and community-based services and family support for families with children returning from foster care placements and families receiving WIHD preventive services. This position will also carry a caseload of cases.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support older youth with independent living activities.
  • Provide formal and informal supervision to case managers and socio-therapists, including weekly face-to-face individual supervision and oversight of timely, clear documentation.
  • Assist with data tracking and collection for internal and external reporting, progress monitoring, and record review to ensure completeness.
  • Support program-related projects such as food, clothing, and school supply drives.
  • Assist with general program operations and responsibilities to DSS, using discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with staff and community providers for personal caseloads and to support supervisees, as needed.
  • Represent the agency at biweekly Foster Care Discharge Review Meetings.
  • Maintain timely, clear, and well-written documentation in Connections and Welligent.
  • Ensure safe driving practices with families and support maintenance, registration, and inspections of agency vehicles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human behavioral science field with specialized instruction in human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, or therapeutic techniques. Degrees in social work, psychology, sociology, or related fields are acceptable.
  • 2-4 years of case management experience in child welfare.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and from client homes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs to conduct home visits in residential buildings that may not have elevators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • 5+ years of case management and supervisory experience.
  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred.

Strong verbal and written communicator, strong comfort with Word and Excel, flexible, trustworthy, ability to exercise discretion and maintain professional composure when managing challenging situations, good at collaborating with a team of professionals and ability to function independently, familiarity with Quality Assurance procedures.
