Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Behavior Technician working with a 5 year old autistic child in Plainfield NJ. This rewarding role allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families by implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions. As a Behavior Technician, you will work closely with licensed professionals to deliver personalized care plans, support skill development, and promote positive behaviors. Schedule: Mon - Fri 9:00a - 3:00p (30 hours a week)
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles to support children with autism.
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, feeding, toileting, and other self-care skills.
- Collect and record data on behavior and skill acquisition to monitor progress and inform treatment adjustments.
- Support teaching of communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors through engaging activities.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to develop and update care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality of medical records and documentation.
- Foster a safe, positive environment that encourages learning, independence, and emotional well-being.
Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in behavioral therapy, working with children, or special education is preferred but not required; we provide comprehensive training!
- Strong interest in assisting children with developmental disabilities and supporting their growth through evidence-based practices like applied behavior analysis.
- Ability to collect accurate data, maintain detailed medical documentation, and understand basic medical terminology related to behavioral health.
- Patience, empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and experience supporting individuals with autism is a plus.
- Must be committed to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding client confidentiality at all times.
