Medical Director - Psychiatry

Wellstar Health System is seeking an experienced and visionary psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for our Outpatient Psychiatry services. This physician leader will play a key role in shaping clinical strategy, supporting provider growth, and advancing high-quality behavioral healthcare across our expanding outpatient network. Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight for outpatient psychiatry services
• Partner with operational leadership to drive strategic growth initiatives
• Support provider recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and retention efforts
• Promote evidence-based psychiatric care and quality improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across behavioral health and primary care
• Assist with policy development, workflow optimization, and clinical best practices
• Participate in provider performance management and peer review processes
• Maintain an active outpatient psychiatry practice
  

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified in Psychiatry
• Active or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia
• Minimum of 3–5 years of outpatient psychiatry experience preferred
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and foster collaborative relationships
• Strong communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills
