Job Summary

The Special Needs Child Care Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that families and educators receive timely, suitable resources tailored to children with special needs. This position will require developing and implementing specialized services tailored to educators' distinct needs. These programs will equip educators with essential knowledge and practical skills to effectively support children with diverse challenges.

In this role, the manager will work closely with caregivers, educators, and various internal teams to enhance the overall quality of service delivery. The goal is to improve outcomes for children with special needs, ensuring a successful educational journey.

Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluate the mental health agency’s consultation services to childcare programs and evaluate effectiveness through assessments and observations. Complete, review, and track quality assurance surveys regarding the support and resources provided to determine the effectiveness and satisfaction of services.

Assist in developing policies, procedures, and operational strategies that improve service delivery and program effectiveness.

Monitor program performance outcomes, and compliance with agency standards, contracts, and funding requirements.

Serve as a contact person between partnering agencies, community organizations, and service providers.

Ensure referrals, screenings, assessments, and follow-up services are completed appropriately.

Maintain accurate records and analyze program data to identify trends, service gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Prepare and provide written program reports, including qualitative data.

Facilitate communication between internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of services and expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, Social Work, Early intervention or Special Needs or related field Specialized knowledge.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal early childhood mental health regulations.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and the ability to use cloud-based databases or be a quick study thereof.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and organizations.
  • Must be able to organize, prepare, and write reports.
  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing new programs and initiatives.
  • Interest in approaching problems from multiple directions—experience in implementing new or innovative program models.

Working conditions

  • A valid Ohio Driver’s License, insurance and reliable transportation are required.
  • Must clear criminal background check.
  • Available to attend overnight statewide meetings.
  • Availability to conduct evening and Saturday training.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk in front of a computer.

· Able to bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.

· Must be able to drive (operate a vehicle) to conduct Starting Point business at childcare programs, external meetings, etc.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. at a time.
