GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works assigned claims that have not been paid from a list and ensures claims are clean for submission and re-submission to the insurance carriers;
• Completes the Appeals process to assist in the collection of all money due to the practice for medical services provided;
• Completes the Refund process for assigned payer;
• Utilizes the EHR system to gather necessary information so that claims can be processed and paid;
• Provides all necessary medical records attachments required by the insurance carrier;
• Works assigned tasks and holds in Athena Billing System.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must fully understand the billing cycle to include all aspects of registration, billing, and coding; 3+ Years previous experience in medical billing and/or successful completion of secondary education in medical billing and/or medical administration; Experience working with the Athena system is preferred;
• Working knowledge of CPT coding, HCSPCS coding, and ICD10 coding for medical services. Understands the utilization of modifiers and other coding rules to include the AMA, CCI, and other coding organizations;
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Proficient in completing all necessary tasks to finalize the billing process'
