About Aveson

Aveson Global Leadership Academy (AGLA) is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to support the social-emotional and mental health needs of students in a dynamic TK–12 charter school environment. Position Summary

Under the direction of the AGLA Site Director, the LMFT provides direct and indirect mental health services to students in grades TK–12. This position supports students experiencing academic, emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health challenges through counseling, assessment, intervention, consultation, and collaboration with school teams and families.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual, group, and family counseling services

Conduct mental health and behavioral risk assessments

Support crisis response and student safety interventions

Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student support plans

Partner with families, administrators, teachers, and outside providers

Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and California regulations

Promote trauma-informed, restorative, and culturally responsive practices

Support school-wide wellness and mental health initiatives

Supervise AMFTs, trainees, or interns as assigned

Qualifications

Required

Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related behavioral health field

Current California LMFT license in good standing

Experience working with children, adolescents, and families

Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, and school-based mental health services

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Preferred

Experience in a TK–12 or charter school setting

Experience supporting students with disabilities and participating in IEP processes

Bilingual or multilingual abilities

Experience supervising associates or trainees

Physical & Work Environment

This role is primarily performed in a school environment and may involve responding to crisis situations, supporting students experiencing emotional dysregulation, and traveling between school sites as needed.
