POSITION OVERVIEW
The Recovery Counselor provides counseling and support to clients, and is responsible for developing treatment and recovery plans. The Recovery Counselor will also facilitate individual and group therapy sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral science.
- Certification as addiction, drug, and alcohol counselor.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with at-risk women, children, and families.
- Valid California Driver's License and a good driving record for local travel only.
- Must possess current CPR and First Aid certificates.
- Must meet agency conditions for employment including requirements for Child Abuse and Fingerprinting clearances.
- Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients and program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and practices the philosophies of trauma-informed care.
- Participate in daily meetings to be updated on client needs and develop team plans.
- Facilitate recovery-based treatment groups/classes, including evidence based practices.
- Maintain client confidentiality in all circumstances as required by professional ethics and legal requirements.
- Demonstrate and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff.
- Maintain on-going communication with staff through documentation and completes all records and reports assigned.
- Drive agency vehicles and transport clients for recreational, educational, medical, cultural, and spiritual outings.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, clients and personnel associated with outside agencies.
- Perform effectively and professionally under pressure.
- Reads and interprets written information such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Acknowledge safety policies and procedures and immediately report potentially unsafe conditions.
- Supports and implements the Epiphany Center mission and values.
