POSITION: College Placement Coordinator/Wellness Counselor

JOB DESCRIPTION: The College Placement Coordinator/Wellness Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the academic, post-secondary, social-emotional, and development of students through a comprehensive counseling program aligned with the school’s mission and values. Working collaboratively with students, families, faculty, administrators, and outside professionals, the counselor fosters a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes college readiness, student well-being, academic success, and personal growth. The ideal candidate is committed to helping students navigate their educational journey while preparing them for future opportunities and lifelong success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with college counseling and selective college admissions preferred
  • Passion for working with young people and supporting academic success and college readiness
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students in a college preparatory or independent school setting preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field required; Master’s degree, certification, and/or licensure preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, faculty, and administrators
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and student wellness
  • Ability to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal growth
  • Ability to help students balance academic expectations with personal well-being
  • Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and discretion
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered community

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

College Counseling:

  • Manage a caseload and guide students through the college search, application, and decision-making process
  • Support students in developing balanced, individualized college lists aligned with academic, personal, and financial goals
  • Assist students/families through the application process. This includes help with essay writing, exploring scholarships opportunities, and applying for financial aid
  • Collaborating and communicating with families throughout their daughter’s college application journey
  • Plan and deliver college counseling programs, workshops, and informational sessions
  • Coordinate college representative visits and on-campus admissions events
  • Administer standardized testing including the SAT, PSAT, and AP exams
  • Plan and organize the Linden Hall Career Fair
  • Connect students with summer learning and enrichment opportunities
  • Coordinate and oversee dual enrollment programming
  • Stay current on college admissions trends and best practices
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to maintain the school profile and related college counseling materials
  • Track and analyze college admission outcomes to support program improvement
  • Build and maintain relationships with college admissions representatives
  • Teach college counseling or post-secondary planning courses as assigned

Academic & Student Life Support:

  • Partner with the Director of Student Affairs and academic leadership to support advisory programming, student wellness initiatives, and student transition support.
  • Assist with new student orientation, onboarding in collaboration with the Student Life Office.
  • Plan and facilitate educational programming for students, families, and faculty related to student wellness, academic planning, and post-secondary preparation

Student Support & Counseling:

  • Provide regular counseling and check-ins to support student well-being
  • Coordinate student support services and communicate with families, providers, and school staff
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in evening and weekend student programming and community events as needed.
  • Support additional advising, student support, or community responsibilities as assigned.
