Job Objective

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Counselor to join our school-based mental health team. This position involves delivering counseling services to students within the school environment, working closely with educators, families, and community resources to promote student well-being and academic success. The ideal candidate will be skilled in supporting children and adolescents with emotional, social, and behavioral challenges, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Accountable to: CEO, Clinical Director, Human Resource Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to students, addressing a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, family dynamics, and social challenges.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and administrators to identify and support students in need of mental health services.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention services and establish crisis response plans to ensure student safety.
  • Maintain thorough, confidential clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Support students' emotional and behavioral growth through evidence-based interventions and culturally responsive practices.
  • Engage and educate families, connecting them with mental health resources and providing guidance to support their child’s development.
  • Participate in school meetings and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams to align mental health services with educational goals.

Job Qualifications:

  • Mental Health Counselor/Therapist-Masters Degree in Counseling or a related field.
  • This position is for a Licensed Counselor/Therapist; or
  • Independently Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts in the state of South Carolina as LISW-CPS, LPCS, LMFT, PsyD, APRN, Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Education
  • SC DHHS CALOCUS certified is a plus.
  • Must have at least 1 years work experience in adult and children counseling and DSM-IV or V diagnosis, to include assessments, service planning, crisis management, individual and/or family therapy, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services, Behavior Modification, family support and other rehabilitation supports preferred for adult with serious and persistent mental illness, and Serious Emotional Disturbed children and adolescents.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, Medicaid services and community mental health resources.
  • Experience in quality improvement processes, auditing, and clinical records documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Also, experience with clinical terminology.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina Driver license and automobile insurance policy.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening.

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
