Minimum of an Associate’s degree/equivalent, or passing Parapro test score, required. Ability and willingness to achieve a 7D license. Must have a valid RBT certification. Candidates must be comfortable providing personal care and behavioral support to students.

CORI, SAFIS, and driver history check are required for all positions.

Assists the classroom teacher and BCBA with classroom activities on a day-to-day basis by providing and supporting academic instruction, implementing skill carryover activities recommended by therapists, monitoring student health and safety and providing personal care. Also assists in the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals through high quality teaching practices and data collection. Provides intensive behavioral support services to students through collaborative implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System (MSERS). Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings.

Essential Duties:

  • Under the supervision of licensed staff, assist in the implementation of appropriate data driven, culturally responsive instruction, Individual Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Apply and model the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in classroom settings as directed.
  • Accurately collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and BIPs.
  • Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs.
  • Implement and model BIPs, as directed by the BCBA, for paraprofessionals.
  • Maintains a culturally inclusive, purposeful, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment that is organized and positive in nature and geared towards student needs and interests.
  • Follows schedule as assigned including reassignments to different program locations as needed.
  • Develops awareness of inclusion procedures within the host school and maintains positive relationships and ongoing communication with the receiving teachers within host school.
  • Prepares for, attends, and fully participates in staff meetings, and student meetings if requested to do so by administration.
  • Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and skills consistent with current research and practice in education through in-services, coursework, evaluations, and online courses.
  • Annually renews Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the BACB registry.
  • Maintains an active 7D license, to drive agency vans to transport students to and from scheduled community outings ensuring adherence to all safety protocols, and complete required vehicle maintenance documentation.
  • Accurately completes documentation related to student incidents/injuries, physical intervention, and 51A reports and/or DPPC under the guidance of teacher and/or administration.
  • Complete all expected paperwork in a high quality manner within mandated/required timelines.
  • Shows respect and compassion for all members of the classroom and school environment including students, staff, and other community members.
  • Implements all aspects of the educational day, which may include activities of daily living (ADL’s) such as toileting, feeding, transferring, self-care, and assistance with mobility including lifting.
  • Effectively utilizes any recommended adaptive equipment for individual students.
  • Participates in all required Collaborative in-services as well as those recommended by supervisors.
  • Communicate all significant occurrences to the appropriate supervisor in a respectful and timely manner.
  • Shares in the overall everyday activities necessary for operation of the program (inventorying, ordering, tracking as necessary, suggestions for program improvement, etc.)
  • Maintains a respectful relationship with parents and others involved with the student’s success.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with parents and students; this includes refraining from communication with students/families outside of school both in person and via all means of digital communication.
  • Directs student related inquiries from family members to the appropriate staff member (i.e.: teacher, nurse, BCBA, etc.)
  • Expected to read and adhere to all Employee Handbook policies.
