- Review imaging orders (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X‑ray, PET, etc.) for completeness and medical necessity requirements.
- Submit prior authorization requests to insurance payers via portals, fax, or phone.
- Track authorization status and follow up proactively to prevent delays.
- Document all authorization activities in the EMR and/or practice management system.
- Verify coverage, benefits, and payer-specific requirements for imaging services.
- Communicate authorization outcomes, additional documentation needs, or payer requests to ordering providers.
- Assist providers with clinical documentation requirements to support medical necessity.
- Notify clinic staff of authorization approvals, denials, or pending items.
- Ensure all authorization activities meet regulatory, payer, and organizational standards.
- Maintain accurate logs, tracking spreadsheets, and audit-ready documentation.
- Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Education: HS diploma
- Experience: Preferred 3 years clinical or other healthcare experience
- Skills: Customer Service, medical terminology
- Licensure/Certification: N/A
- Physical: ability to work at a computer 90% of the day and stand for the remaining 10%
