Duties

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual treatment needs.
• Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavior management strategies.
• Implement crisis intervention protocols to support clients experiencing acute distress or relapse episodes, ensuring safety and stabilization.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, discharge planning, and community care services such as home visits or hospital-based care.
• Utilize research and data collection methods to monitor client progress, adjust treatment approaches, and contribute to program improvement efforts.

Experience

• Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings with a focus on substance use disorders.
• Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and social work principles.
• Familiarity with crisis management procedures, PTSD care protocols, and trauma-informed care practices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical documentation standards necessary for accurate recordkeeping.
• Experience working in hospital environments or community-based settings with home care experience is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and case management effectively.
• Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CADC or equivalent) is required; additional training in CPT coding or ICD coding is a plus.
