River Grove is a public, tuition-free K–5 charter school located near Stillwater, MN, in the scenic St. Croix River Valley. Position Summary

River Grove Charter School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Licensed School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of elementary students in a part-time (.6 FTE) role. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting children and families, skilled in restorative and proactive approaches, and excited to work within a small, community-focused, nature-based school environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling services for K–5 students
• Support students’ social-emotional learning and mental wellness
• Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to develop student support plans
• Assist with behavioral interventions and restorative practices
• Conduct classroom guidance lessons aligned with developmental and SEL standards
• Participate in Child Study/Student Support Team meetings
• Coordinate referrals to outside mental health and community services as needed
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Support a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive school climate

QualificationsRequired

• Valid Minnesota School Counselor License
• Experience working with elementary-aged students
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

• Experience in a charter school or small school setting
• Familiarity with restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches
• Interest in environmental or nature-based education
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
