Position Summary
The Mental Health Therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy services to clients experiencing mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. The therapist is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and positive client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans using measurable and achievable goals.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care).
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, primary care providers, and other professionals to coordinate care.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when needed.
- Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and ongoing training/professional development.
- Educate clients and families on coping strategies, self-care, and community resources.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards as outlined by state licensure and agency policy.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Competency in maintaining boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation standards.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Working Conditions
- Office, community-based, or telehealth settings depending on client needs.
- Flexible schedule may include evenings or weekends.
- May require local travel for home visits or community outreach.
