UVA Health is seeking a full-time Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join our Behavioral Health team at Prince William Medical Center. This role is a key part of our inpatient behavioral health service line, providing high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population while supporting expanded access to mental health services across the region.

Practice Highlights:
- Hospital-based inpatient psychiatry role
- Primary location: Prince William Medical Center
- Remote coverage for Haymarket and Culpeper Medical Centers
- EPIC electronic medical record system
- Support from Behavioral Health Access Team, outpatient/IOP teams, and Emergency Department
- Closed ICU model

- Full-time (1.0 FTE)
- 7 on / 7 off schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (on-site rounding)
- Call responsibilities:
- Approximately 5 overnight calls per month
- Includes 1 full weekend + 3 weekday call
- Weekend coverage required
- Provide inpatient psychiatric care on the Behavioral Health Inpatient (BHIP) unit
- Manage an average daily census of 8-12 patients (on-site and remote)
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management
- Provide consultative services within scope of practice as requested
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Deliver care in accordance with all regulatory, accreditation, and clinical standards
- Support continuity of care and patient needs during transitions
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility)
- Current DEA license
