Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Counselor to join our mental health and behavioral health team. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems, to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions utilizing approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute psychiatric or behavioral emergencies effectively.
- Facilitate child and family counseling sessions to promote healthy communication, coping skills, and family dynamics.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and case management records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and community resource referrals.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to improve clinical outcomes and support evidence-based practices within behavioral health.
Skills
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and clinical counseling settings.
- Strong knowledge of crisis management techniques and crisis intervention protocols.
- Expertise in motivational interviewing to foster client engagement and motivation for change.
- Familiarity with hospital environments, home & community care settings, and PTSD care requirements.
- Skilled in medical terminology, medical records management, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and documentation standards.
- Ability to perform patient assessments using diagnostic tools like ICD coding systems; experience with diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Excellent case management skills with the ability to coordinate services across multiple providers and settings.
- Competence in social work principles, behavior management strategies, and applied behavior analysis techniques.
