About the Position: This position will be located in Directorate of Mental Health- Psychiatry, Naval Medical Center, San Diego CA.

Duties
- Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
- Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
- Analyze information collected to identify symptoms and develop treatment plan.
- Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
- Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis.
- Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for behavioral health cases and all other social work needs as designated by the section or department needs.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 44 pounds is required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- A personnel Tier 3 secret security investigation is required.
- Position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical): Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial for patients needing behavioral health services, providing individual therapy when indicated and formulating behavioral health interventions and safe discharge plans for highly complex medicine patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-11)
