Position Overview:

Kings View is seeking a Peer Support Specialist – MCRT to join the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). This role provides direct support to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health crises through field-based and telephonic services.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, this position responds to non-life-threatening mental health calls, provides active listening, crisis support, and connects individuals to community resources. This role plays a critical part in helping stabilize individuals and reduce reliance on emergency services by promoting recovery and continuity of care. fileciteturn6file0

Key Responsibilities:

Crisis Response & Support:
  • Respond to incoming crisis calls, chats, and community support contacts
  • Provide active listening, emotional support, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Apply crisis intervention techniques and safety planning
  • Assist with emergency response coordination when needed
  • Evaluate individuals for potential 5150 assessments (as applicable)

Care Coordination & Advocacy:
  • Act as liaison between the Person Served, families, and care teams
  • Assist in developing recovery and wellness plans
  • Provide linkage to community resources and wraparound services
  • Support stabilization efforts and prevent re-hospitalization

Documentation & Compliance:
  • Complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes
  • Maintain records in compliance with agency, HIPAA, COA, CCBHC, and CalAIM standards
  • Utilize systems such as SmartCare and OneHCM effectively

Team Collaboration & Program Support:
  • Collaborate with Mobile Crisis Response Team members and community partners
  • Participate in outreach events and program activities
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and continuing education

General Duties:
  • Maintain professionalism and empathy in all interactions
  • Meet performance expectations for response rates and quality monitoring
  • Work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and shift work
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California Driver’s License (Class C)
  • 0–1 year of relevant experience

Required Experience:
  • Experience working with the public
  • Lived experience as a consumer or family member (if required by program)

Required Skills:
  • Strong communication and compassionate listening skills
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations
  • Strong documentation and data entry skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Crisis counseling or behavioral health experience
  • Experience connecting individuals to community resources
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
