SALARY
- Range ($55,375.20 - $93,096.00 Annually).
- Salary will be commensurate with experience. Limitations apply to current State employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education.
- 48 months or more experience as social worker in the mental health field, including…
- 12 months or more is a supervisory or administrative capacity.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have or be eligible for licensure as graduate social worker as issued by the Alabama Board of Social Work.
- Eligible employees must obtain licensure within one year of appointment date in order to maintain employment.
KIND OF WORK 25-31 Social Worker IV (Mental Health) (Supervisor
- Provides leadership within department by assisting the Social Work Director in assignment and completion of duties, the training and development of new staff and students and providing monitoring and oversight.
- Assists the Social Work Director in assigning/completing social work duties, developing training opportunities, and act as designee as needed.
- Provides social work supervision (administrative, educational, and supportive) to social workers and/or students as assigned.
- Provides social work services for patients, including crisis and social work interventions, group and individual therapy so that quality care is provided.
- Assists in the development, revision, monitoring and implementation of individualized Care Plans as needed to improve quality of services provided to patients.
- Participates in department and facility committees & subcommittees as requested.
- Performs other related duties as required.
KIND OF WORK Social Worker IV (Mental Health) (Community Placement Coordinator)
- Provides therapeutic placement opportunities for patients referred by treatment teams as part of discharge planning.
- Initiates and maintains communications with community providers, treatment teams, and patients to initiate referrals, and schedule and attend screenings to ensure continuity of care
- Completes and assists with completing documents related to post-hospitalization efforts.
- Provides social work services for patients
- Assists the Social Work Director in assigning/completing social work duties, developing training opportunities, and acts as a designee as needed.
- Provides social work supervision (administrative, educational, and supportive) to students as assigned.
- Attends and participates in hearings, clinical/administrative meetings, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of mental and psychological disorders.
- Knowledge of therapeutic restrictions.
- Knowledge of human behavior to include developmental theories, personality theories, normalization, systems theories, non-verbal communication, and social and cultural influences.
- Knowledge of social work to include family dynamics, developmental models, community and group processes.
- Ability to communicate verbally in such forums as meetings, conferences, and therapy sessions.
- Ability to make clinical assessments.
- Ability to communicate in writing in documents such as social history report, progress notes and other correspondence.
- Ability to supervise, delegate, commend, discipline, evaluate, and instruct work of others.
