Brain Health Specialist (1099 Contractor, Part-Time or Full-Time)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area & Monterey County

Work Setting: Hybrid (Minimum 8 in-person hours/week at Mill Valley, CA location; additional hours via Telehealth optional)

Position Summary:

CBHC seeks a compassionate Brain Health Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team as an independent contractor (1099 status). In this role, you will deliver brain health and cognitive training interventions, both in-person and remotely, to help clients optimize brain health, cognitive function, and overall well-being.

This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to advance specialized skills in brain health. Contractors are expected to provide in-person services at our Mill Valley clinic for a minimum of 8 hours per week, with the option to add additional in-person or telehealth hours according to your clinical interests and credentials.

This position is well-suited for those looking to supplement their current practice or explore additional income streams. Contractors will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and collaborative team, access ongoing referrals, and engage in meaningful work with a diverse adult population, all while enjoying a supportive environment that fosters both personal and professional growth.

Client Population:

You will work with adult clients presenting with a range of cognitive concerns, including:

● Cognitive impairment/dementia

● ADHD

● Stroke

● Parkinson’s Disease

Key Responsibilities:

● Deliver CBHC brain health and cognitive training programs, including client coaching, personalized training plan setup, and technical support for clients with cognitive impairment, brain injury, dementia, or those seeking cognitive enhancement

● Educate clients and families about brain health, lifestyle modifications, and strategies to support cognitive function

● Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to adult clients commensurate with contractor’s interests and training

● Monitor client progress, adjust interventions as needed, and document outcomes.

● Stay current on best practices, emerging research, and technology in brain health and cognitive therapy

● Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and external providers to optimize client outcomes

● Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing training as desired

● Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic health record

● Uphold ethical, legal, and professional standards in accordance with licensure and best practices

Qualifications:

● Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field

● Active, unrestricted California license in good standing (LCSW/LMFT/LPCC/LPC)

● Certification or training in brain health is preferred but not required

● Interest in working with adults on cognitive and brain health concerns

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to motivate and support clients

● Comfort with digital health platforms and virtual care delivery

● Commitment to ethical, client-centered care and ongoing learning

This position is structured as an independent contractor opportunity. Contractors retain autonomy over their schedules, clinical practice, and caseload management. CBHC provides referrals, administrative support, and access to consultation, while contractors are responsible for their own professional liability insurance, tax obligations, and continuing education.
