John Bapst has an opening for a full-time school counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a permanent position. The successful candidate will have a degree in counseling or a related field (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral) and experience working in academic counseling; additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special accommodations and an ability to support students' social and emotional needs. Counselors provide academic and personal guidance to 450 local day students and 50 international students. This may be combined with a houseparent position in the school's residential boarding program, with housing and other benefits provided.

Tasks range from academic advising and scheduling to leading students through the college application process. Excellent interpersonal skills with teenagers, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators are essential.
