Position Overview:
As a Pre-op/PACU Nurse at OrthoArkansas, you play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care for patients in the Pre-op, PACU, and Interventional Spine areas. This position involves managing patient care throughout the surgical process, from admission to discharge, while supporting the clinical team and upholding high standards of nursing excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

    Medical Records Management

    Complete and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with center policy.

    Perform chart audits as time permits to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.

    Clinical Preparation and Organization

    Prepare clinical areas for the next day and verify emergency supplies and equipment readiness.

    Restock supplies and notify staff of items requiring reordering.

    Patient Care and Medication Administration

    Administer medications in compliance with policies, procedures, and DEA regulations.

    Assess post-operative pain and deliver prescribed pain management interventions.

    Assist with dressing changes and post-operative patient care needs.

    Patient Education and Coordination

    Ensure consents are properly signed by patients, physicians, and nurses.

    Explain procedures and post-operative instructions clearly to patients and caregivers.

    Coordinate patient care with providers, caregivers, and other team members.

    Clinical Procedures and Assessments

    Perform nursing treatments and procedures within the scope of practice.

    Administer IV therapy and medications, monitor vital signs, and assess patient comfort and safety.

    Make pre-op and post-op follow-up calls to patients to support recovery and answer questions.

    Additional Duties

    Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations and patient care delivery.

Qualifications:

    Education & Experience:

    High school diploma or GED required.

    Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

    Equivalent to a four-year college degree.

    12 to 18 months of related nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:

Required: RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications.

Preferred: CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room), BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).

Software Skills:

    Basic: Alphanumeric data entry, word processing, typing.
