SUMMARY
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for procuring materials, components, and outside services required to support the manufacture of mixers, stainless steel tanks, and related process equipment. This role manages daily purchasing activity, supports supplier performance, and contributes to sourcing initiatives focused on cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity. The position works closely with engineering, production, quality, inventory, project management, and finance. This position is full-time, onsite in a manufacturing company environment.

This role manages daily purchasing activity, supports supplier performance, and contributes to sourcing initiatives focused on cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity. The position works closely with engineering, production, quality, inventory, project management, and finance. This position is full-time, onsite in a manufacturing company environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Procure raw materials, fabricated components, mechanical equipment, electrical components, consumables, and subcontracted services required for manufacturing and project e
- xecution.
- Review purchase requisitions, bills of material, inventory requirements, and production schedules to generate accurate and timely purchase orders.
- Source materials and services including stainless steel plate, sheet, pipe, tubing, fittings, motors, reducers, seals, agitator components, instrumentation, and outside fabrication or processing services.
- Obtain supplier quotations, analyze price, lead time, and commercial terms, and select suppliers in accordance with business requirements and company procedures.
- Submit RFQs and serve as the main point of contact for international imports, coordinating supplier communication, documentation, and follow-up as required.
- Manage open purchase orders and communicate with suppliers to confirm acknowledgments, ship dates, and delivery commitments.
- Expedite critical materials and services as necessary to support production schedules and customer commitments.
- Resolve supplier-related issues involving shortages, late deliveries, damaged goods, quality concerns, invoice discrepancies, and nonconforming materials.
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for assigned suppliers and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, on-time delivery, responsiveness, and pricing, and support corrective actions when needed.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives by identifying new suppliers, qualifying alternate sources, reducing supply risk, and assisting with sourcing strategies for key spend categories.
- Lead cleanup and data maintenance efforts within the Odoo ERP system, including reducing duplicates, combining records, and correcting item, vendor, contact, and related master data.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proven ability to contribute to cost reduction and cost avoidance efforts through quote analysis, negotiation support, supplier consolidation, and improved purchasing practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead time, and purchasing records within the ERP system.
- Coordination between internal departments to ensure purchased materials and services align with specifications, revision-controlled documents, and operational requirements.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts related to procurement processes, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret bills of material, technical drawings, specifications, and production schedules.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally with professionalism and integrity in accordance with MXD Process core values.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing industrial materials, fabricated components, mechanical parts, or custom-engineered items.
- Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems and standard procurement processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business software applications.
LOCATION
Working onsite at one of MXD Process’ locations, Jeffersonville, IN or Plain City, OH.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position works in an office and manufacturing environment with a considerable amount of time spent at a computer, and will require dexterity to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, laptop, and phone.
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Able to walk through the manufacturing and inventory areas and communicate with employees.
- The ability to travel to other MXD Process locations as needed.
