Brabeion Academy is pioneering a new era in public education as Idaho’s First Public School of Sport. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced school counselor to lead our counseling and academic advising program. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, innovative, and assertive leader who fully embraces and champions our school's core mission: to nurture the whole person—body, mind, and character—through mandatory daily physical education and active, progressive participation in competitive athletic programs.

Responsibilities

The School Counselor will report directly to the Special Education Coordinator and be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, conflict management, and behavioral health
  • Develop and implement personalized academic advising plans to support students’ educational goals and address learning challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers to design classroom strategies that foster positive behavior management and accommodate diverse learning needs
  • Provide crisis intervention and mental health counseling for students experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties
  • Coordinate with child protective services and child welfare agencies when necessary to ensure student safety and well-being
  • Be a member of 504 and IEP teams, assisting or in some cases leading the creation of 504 plans.
  • Support administrative team with secondary student scheduling

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Valid school counselor certification/license for K-8 education levels
  • Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, teachers, and community partners
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
  • Familiarity with behavioral health practices, mental health counseling methods, and social work interventions
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion while adhering to child protective services guidelines
  • Experience in conflict management and crisis intervention strategies

Pay: $50,252.00 - $70,000.00 per year
