RECREATION THERAPIST

“NCTRC‑recognized CTRS role”

Make a meaningful impact—every single day.

RSI is seeking a passionate and creative Recreational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you’ll use the power of therapeutic recreation to help individuals with disabilities build independence, confidence, and quality of life. Through purposeful, goal-directed interventions, you’ll support each person’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being while helping them develop skills for daily living and community engagement.

If you’re energized by collaboration, creativity, and client-centered care, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a Recreational Therapist at RSI, you will:

  • Design and implement individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments, client interests, and therapeutic objectives
  • Lead engaging therapeutic activities—including sports, games, arts and crafts, music, dance, relaxation techniques, and gardening—to support physical and mental well-being
  • Observe, document, and evaluate client participation and progress, adjusting interventions to maximize outcomes
  • Encourage and coach clients to explore new skills, build confidence, and engage in health-promoting leisure activities
  • Provide counseling and guidance to help clients develop meaningful, lifelong leisure pursuits
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to plan, evaluate, and enhance therapy programs
  • Gather and synthesize information from medical records, clinical staff, clients, and families to assess abilities, needs, and interests
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field with a specialization in recreational therapy
  • Completion of a therapeutic recreation internship
  • Demonstrated competence to practice as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through certification as a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
  • Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
  • A creative, client-focused approach and a genuine passion for helping others thrive

Why Join RSI?

  • Flexible full-time or part-time scheduling options
  • A supportive, collaborative work environment
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and their families
  • Meaningful, hands-on work where creativity and compassion are encouraged

If you’re ready to help individuals discover new abilities, build independence, and enjoy life to the fullest, we encourage you to apply and join the RSI team.
